Handmade rugs are beautiful additions to any home, but they require regular care to maintain their beauty and durability. Here are some simple tips for caring for these unique pieces.

01

Vacuum regularly

Regular vacuuming of carpets is crucial to maintaining their cleanliness and durability. Vacuuming should be done about once a week, especially for the first few weeks, as wool naturally produces dust.

02

Remove stains as soon as possible

If a stain appears on the carpet, remove it immediately. To do this, you can use laundry detergent and leave it for 15 minutes, then rinse the stain with a small amount of warm water. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents, as they can damage the carpet fibers. Avoid rubbing to prevent spreading the stain. Instead of rubbing, try to absorb as much of the stain as possible by pressing the paper towel/cloth into the carpet pile.

03

Wash the rug

In case of heavier stains or regular use, the rug should be washed by a specialist company. Always inform them about natural materials and latex backing. Rugs with backing shouldn’t be cleaned in standard machine wash. Most recommended is dry cleaning.

04

Use a rug pad

To prevent the back of your rug from getting dirty, it’s recommended to use a non-slip mat. This will trap dirt on its surface rather than letting it get on the rug, and will also prevent unwanted rug movement.

05

Avoid high exposure to the sun

Prolonged exposure to sunlight can affect the durability of your rug and may cause color fading, as each rug is made from hand-dyed wool. It’s recommended to place the rug out of direct sunlight or rotate it regularly to ensure the fading is evenly distributed across the rug’s surface and less noticeable.

Caring for handmade rugs is important to maintain their beauty and durability. With regular care and simple tips, you can enjoy your beautiful rug for many years to come.
